Tallis students laid a special wreath of remembrance at the Menin Gate during their trip to France last week. We were able to share a special video, showing the laying of a wreath by two Tallis students, with everyone back at school on Remembrance Day itself, prior to the whole school community observing a very respectful minute's silence on the concourse. You can also watch the film of the Last Post ceremonyin France attended by the students and see photographs of the trip below.

The History Department is organising a 2 day residential school journey to Nord including Lille and St Omer for students in year 8 staying over night at the Chateau d'Ebblinghem. This will take place from 10 to 11 November 2015 and will be available to 40 students. The purpose of the trip is to think about the First World War and enhance humanities study skills. There are some important documents uploaded here which include the initial letter, information about the chateau, the booking form, information on battlefield site visits along with the terms and conditions.
The provisional cost is £137.00 per student covering (travel, insurance, accommodation at Le Chateau with all food and drink and the services of a History Guide Lecturer). This trip is not a requirement of the curriculum and it is entirely voluntary but such journeys are invariably of great educational and social value to the students. Further to the deposit paid, please find the payment schedule for remaining amount below. This is payable by cheque , cash or wise pay, the schools online payment system.: Second instalment due Friday 26th June £60. Final instalment due Friday 11th September £37. The students will travel to and from France by coach and ferry and whilst there will have the opportunity to take part in a busy programme of activities. Please also be aware, that at the time of travel passports must have 6 months validity and we recommend that any UK Passport Applications are sent off for immediately, along with a EHIC application. Links can be found for these opposite. We will require a photocopy of the passport by Friday 26th June. Passports will also need to be handed into school prior to the trip Monday 2nd November. Could you also take time to submit the school form opposite so that we can receive any Medical or dietary information or requirements prior to the visit. Closer to the departure of this trip we will hold a parental meeting to go through the details needed, but if before then you have specific questions, please get in touch on my email link below.
