Red Star over Russia 1905-53.On the 7th November 2017 20 More Able Learners visited the Tate Modern to consider visual evidence from Russia in the period 1905-53. The exhibition is entitled Red Star over Russia.
The exhibition marks the centenary of the October Revolution. It presented a dramatic visual history of the Soviet Union, from 1905 to the death of Stalin, revealing how seismic political events inspired a wave of innovation in Russian art and design. It explored the art of the people, showing how propaganda transformed everyday culture and was used to promote a new ideology. It featured over 250 fascinating objects and provided a special chance to understand how life and art were transformed during a momentous period in modern world history.
