During this period students will be returning to Tutor Groups to consider further why it is important to celebrate diversity.

- At the start of the period 5 tutors will explain to their groups that this Community Day is called "Tallis Celebrates Diversity". That during the course of the day they have considered in period 1 the nature of the diversity of the Tallis Community and that this means that we are a community of nearly 2,000 young people that contains young men and women of a range of faith, language and ethnic heritages that share our lives together every day. In periods 2 and 3 we have considered the terrible consequences of intolerance, prejudice and discrimination in various episodes of recent human history and in particular those of the Holocaust and more recent genocides. In period 4 we have considered responses to these terrible atrocities in terms of the response of the arts, remembrance and what lessons they teach us for the future.
- In this final period 5 tutorial of the day we are going to consider what a multicultural Britain means and how some groups experience sexism, racism and homophobia in our community. Students are asked to consider the edited summary of UNDHR and draft a student Diversity and Rights Charter which will go to SLT and Governors at the end of the session.
- Furthermore that we should think hard about how we need to understand and work together to overcome such intolerance, prejudice and discrimination. It is fundamental to embrace both our individuality and the individuality of others. We come together every day to share our experiences and learn as one to understand the world and change it for the better. Students to consider one of the options below.
