What were the causes and consequences of the French Revolution of 1789?
This enquiry encourages students to consider events and developments in France from the 1780's through to 1815. It involves a study of the diversity of French society before 1789 and the causes of the storming of the Bastille in July 1789 which started the Revolution in all aspects of French government and life. sudents are encouraged to thinkk hard and carefully about the evidence that the past as left behind in order to construct explanations of causes and consequences, changes and continuities, similarities and differences and the significance of events throughout this dramatic period. Students will also be engaging with the concept that both people who lived through this period and historians who have written about it since have interpreted the events in a variety of different ways. |
