Conflict and Remembrance - Dominant and Alternative narratives
AM Registration...to stimulate inquisitiveness about remembrance.
During AM registration students will be issued with a Remembrance Passport on which they will document their thoughts during the course of the days events. They will then be asked to consider the questions of who, how and why do we remember on Remembrance Day? They can record their initial discussion and thoughts on their Remembrance Passport.
Students will then be asked to think further about Remembrance: 1 Students will watch a short video about the National Memorial Aboretum which gives an insight into some of the possible responses to the questions of who, how and why we remember. If tutors have time they may wish to ask students to listen to the song "The Green Fields of France" and consider a question that they would like to ask linked to the Act of Remembrance. This could be any question from the personal question concerning a story they know of or the more philosophical musing about war and its consequences.. 2 Students will then write down their question . Each tutor groups questions will then be kept by the tutor to be explored in pm registration at the end of the day. It may be planned that such questions may be written on a material or object that can be taken by a nominated tutee to an office where they will be collated by a nominated person who will begin the process of constructing an extensive installation during period 1 and 2 in a prominent area ready for a last post ceremony at 11:00. |
